To register a business name in Zambia, you must file an application with PACRA (the Patents and Companies Registration Agency) using the [PACRA Business Name Form, S.]. This form is used to register a business name for a sole proprietorship or partnership under the Registration of Business Names Act. The application is submitted directly to PACRA.
If you operate your business under more than one business name, you must state each of these names in your registration [The Companies Act, S.1]. This ensures that all the names under which you conduct business are properly recorded.
There is a registration fee payable to PACRA for processing your application. The fee structure is set out in the implementing regulations, and you should confirm the current fee amount with PACRA when you submit your application, as fees may be subject to periodic updates.
Once your application is approved and processed, PACRA will issue you with a registration certificate for your business name. This certificate serves as proof of your business name registration in Zambia.
